We Are the Garden

This year's Love Your Magic Summer Camp theme, "We Are the Garden," invites Black and Brown girls to see themselves as sacred, deserving of care, and ever-growing. Like gardens, they flourish with nurturing environments, protection, and intentional love. This theme honors their ancestral roots and affirms that growth can look like blooming, resting, shedding, or beginning anew. Centering joy, connection, and self-love, we cultivate spaces where each girl can truly flourish—because where love grows, they bloom.

Program Overview

In Their Honor: Each team will research their assigned cabin name and create a chant that reflects the person's legacy, values, and impact. The chant will incorporate key facts, quotes, or themes that resonate with the woman’s contributions, while also allowing the girls to reflect on how that woman’s values and impact inspire them personally and how their story relates to their own.

Planting Seeds: Each participant will plant a seed while creating a visual representation of their goals, intentions, and milestones for the upcoming school year. As they nurture their plant, they’ll be reminded of the growth they are cultivating within themselves. This activity encourages the girls to reflect on what they want to achieve academically, socially, and personally, while connecting their intentions to a living symbol of care, patience, and transformation.

Gather & Grow: In this activity, girls will gather around the campfire to make s’mores in small groups. Camp counselors will help to facilitate the roasting process and encourage conversation. The group will spread out on blankets, and while enjoying their treats, they'll engage in a few games designed to build community and promote reflection.

Unearthing Her Truth: Inspired by Sojourner Truth, this activity will give the girls the opportunity to engage in a series of stations where they will explore the legacy of Black and Brown women, reflect on their values of justice and strength, and apply these lessons to their own lives. They will work together to complete challenges that foster community, self-reflection, and advocacy.

Watering Our Joy: A free-play session where the girls can relax, enjoy the water, and build community. Camp counselors will join in the fun, actively engaging with the girls to foster community, connection, and support. Girls will be seen splashing around, playing water games, or enjoying the poolside vibes.

Donate

Our programs and events are free, but your donation helps us keep them going. Even a small contribution makes a big impact. Charitable giving to local women and girls is declining, and in Massachusetts, it’s below the national average of 1.9%. Your support can help change that and empower more Black and Brown girls.
